Art Space
Terms & Conditions
This page brings together in one place what Art Space undertakes and what the buyer undertakes on completing any order from shop.omannec.com. It adds no new condition: its details are already published on the Shipping & Delivery andReturns & Exchangespages, and what appears here is the form of them that binds the order.
One: who we are, and when these terms apply
Art Space is the creative arm of the National Entertainment Company (NEC) in the Sultanate of Oman, and it works A publishing house for Omani art: it does not represent the artist and does not stand in his place; it takes on documentation, fine-art printing, international payment and shipping. The work stays his work and the name stays his name.
By completing an order you confirm that you have read and accepted these terms. They apply to the order as published at the moment it was completed; any later amendment does not apply retrospectively to an earlier order.
Two: the nature of the works offered
An original work is offered as a single copy, and is set in the shop to "sold individually" with a stock of one — so it leaves the shop the moment it sells and is never sold twice.
The image shown on the page is a limited-resolution display image, intended to introduce the work and not to replace it. Colour values may differ slightly between a screen and the work itself, depending on the display.
Fine-art prints are produced to order rather than held in stock, and need a preparation period before shipping.
Three: prices and currency
Prices are in Omani rials and include only what is stated on the page of the work. Shipping is added at checkout according to your destination, and it includes insurance.
Prices do not include customs duties or import taxes in the buyer’s country outside Oman — these fall to the buyer, as set out in clause six.
For large works whose page states "directly with us", the cost of delivery is agreed by contacting us before the order is completed.
Four: payment
Cash on delivery is available within the Sultanate of Oman only. Bank transfer is available for international orders, and no work is shipped before the transfer has cleared in full.
No work is shipped before payment is complete, unless the order is cash on delivery within Oman.
Five: delivery and framing
Within Oman The work is delivered framed — where it has a frame — by courier or by collection from our premises in Muscat.
Outside Oman It ships unframed, which is the accepted international practice: glass breaks in transit and the work beneath it cannot be replaced, a frame multiplies the shipping cost, and anything above a certain size requires a purpose-built wooden crate.
Works on paper ship flat between two rigid boards, or rolled in a sturdy tube if they are large — and are never folded.
The stated timings run from confirmation of payment and not from the order date, and do not include customs clearance delays. Full timings on the shipping page.
Six: customs and duties
International works ship on a DAPbasis: customs duties and import taxes in your country are for your account and are paid on receipt.
On the shipping documents we declare the true value of the work. We do not under-declare, because that voids the insurance and exposes the buyer to liability — and we do not act on any request to do otherwise.
Seven: insurance, ownership and liability
Every shipment is insured for its full sale value, and the insurance is included in the shipping cost — no extra charge and nothing for the buyer to select.
The work remains our responsibility until the moment it is handed to you, not until it is handed to the carrier. If it is damaged in transit, the loss is ours.
Ownership of the work passes to you on completion of payment, and responsibility for its care passes on delivery.
Eight: if the work arrives damaged
Do not throw away the packaging. Photograph the parcel from the outside before opening it if it looks damaged, then photograph the work, and send the images to artspace@omannec.com within 48 hours of receipt.
The packaging is the evidence for the insurance claim, and without it the claim fails.
We handle the rest: restoration at our cost where that is possible, or a full refund including shipping.
Nine: withdrawal and returns
The original: Fourteen days from receipt in which to return it if you change your mind, provided it comes back in its original condition and packaging together with the certificate of authenticity. We refund the price of the work in full, and the buyer carries the cost of return shipping.
Fine-art prints: printed to order, so returns for a change of mind are not accepted. If a print arrives damaged, creased or with a printing fault, send photographs of the parcel and the work within seven days and we will send a replacement at our cost, or refund you if you prefer.
Refunds are returned to the same payment method within 14 working days of the claim being accepted.
Ten: intellectual property
The intellectual property in the work remains entirely with the artist. Acquiring the original work does not transfer the right to copy, print, publish or use it commercially, and does not include permission to use an image of the work in the training of artificial intelligence models.
The images of the works and the texts of this site are likewise protected: they may not be copied, republished, used commercially, or used in the training of artificial intelligence models without written permission.
Eleven: the certificate of authenticity
The certificate of authenticity travels with the work and passes to its owner. It is not sold separately, and a replacement is issued only to an owner registered with us.
The certificate is issued with the artist's permission and bears his name, the details of the work, and the issue number and date.
Twelve: governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Sultanate of Oman, and its courts have jurisdiction over any dispute arising from them. We will always seek to settle any disagreement amicably and by direct contact before any other step.
