Abdulmajid Karwa

عبدالمجيد كاروه

A leading Omani visual artist who has built a distinctive visual identity drawn from the beauty of the Omani place and its human memory. Mutrah holds a central position in his work; he returns again and again to its alleys, its old houses, its harbour, its souqs and its architectural detail, in a living language of colour that joins tradition to a contemporary eye.

Karwa is known for his assured use of the painting knife and the density of his colour, with quick impressionist touches that give his work a richness of light and shadow and a striking visual warmth. His practice moves between realism, abstraction, graphic work and caricature, using oil and acrylic to compose scenes that hold the memory of a place and reveal its deep relation to people and heritage.

Karwa has held a number of solo exhibitions, among them "Mutrah 1970", and has taken part in exhibitions and art forums inside Oman and abroad, winning prizes in competitions and exhibitions. Alongside his own production he passes his experience to the public and to emerging artists through painting workshops and live demonstrations.

The works of Abdulmajid Karwa are a distinctive opportunity for collectors, institutions and cultural spaces looking for authentic Omani art with a clear character and aesthetic value.
