The burqa painted again and again until it fills the canvas: dozens of triangular masks pressed together and overlapping, each with its wide black eyes and the pale line of the nose running down the middle. There is no background and no ground — the burqas themselves are the whole surface, edge to edge.
Because the shape is one and repeats, colour is what separates them: violet and indigo across the top, red and terracotta to the right, turquoise to the left, and scattered over all of it small white, yellow and red dots that pulse like jewellery.
The bride's burqa is a face covering and a piece of traditional adornment, worn on the wedding night or at the signing of the marriage contract across the Gulf and the Arabian Peninsula. Abdulmajid Karwa painted it in acrylic in 2026, on a 100 × 100 cm square.
The original is available to acquire — a single, unrepeated copy.
