The old Mutrah waterfront at the hour of sunset: the row of merchants’ houses with their carved wooden balconies and red awnings, their crenellated walls, and a small white dome showing behind them. Beyond that the Hajar mountains, built from short dense strokes almost beyond counting, and above them an orange sky catching light and losing it.
People are walking on the shore: a man in a white dishdasha, two women in coloured dresses, and others scattered along the sand. In the water a wooden dhow lies at anchor with its sail furled, gulls around it, and a small boat further out.
Mutrah is a trading and historic centre going back to the third millennium BC, and this painting returns it to its older face — when the sea still reached the feet of the houses.
Abdulmajid Karwa completed it in acrylic in 2026 at 200 × 280 cm. The original is available to acquire as a single, unrepeated copy.
