An old bicycle leaning against a wall, drawn from close in so that the handlebars and the front wheel rise to the top of the sheet. A kerosene lamp hangs from the frame with its glass and handle, beside it the bicycle's own old lantern with its pink lens, and below them a small bell and rusted leather clips.
The background is washed in brown and grey layers with no detail, and the white left on the metal is the paper itself rather than white paint — that is the nature of watercolour: the light is planned before the colour is laid.
Ruqia Khalfan completed it in watercolour on paper in 2025, at 90 × 60 cm.
